McBroom Electric Motor Service

Along with our 3-phase motor repair, servo motor repair and spindle repair and rebuilding, McBroom offers superior dynamometer repair. We provide complete dynamometer repairs and rebuild services. We have over 75 years experience in electric motor services and with this broad technical foundation, you can rest assured that your dynamometer will be repaired precisely back to OEM specifications, along with all testing documentation and failure/service report that accompanies all our dynamometer repairs to the customer.

McBroom offers complete support along with total repair capabilities for large gear motors, transformers, pumps, magnets, generators, electric chucks and welders. McBroom uses only inverter-duty wire with a higher resistance to voltage spikes, increasing the life of each repaired motor. All McBroom electric motor services adhere strictly to ANSI/EASA motor repair guidelines and procedures.

To increase the life of each repaired electric motor, McBroom uses only Class H insulation with the industry's highest temperature tolerance (180° C/356° F) versus the standard Class F (150° C/311° F) used by motor manufacturers.

Our electric motor service quality assurance procedures ensure that each repaired part used in the repaired equipment meets our quality standards. We bore and sleeve housings using cast iron sleeves specifically designed to match bearings by size. McBroom's sophisticated machining equipment offers precision spindle rebuilding where rigid tolerances are held up to ±.0001".

McBroom's Phenix test panel incorporates a PLC-based control system to allow greater reliability without sacrificing the flexibility required to satisfy each customer's specific needs for our electric motor service testing processes. Every repaired motor undergoes a Vibration Spectrum Analysis at rated nameplate speed using IRD and CSI balance equipment. We provide a Repair Analysis Report with every repaired motor. This report includes:

  • The reason for the failure
  • Recommendations to prevent future failures
  • Bearing sizes and manufacturer
  • Rotor bar count
  • Stator slot count
  • Vibration spectrum

If rewinding an electric motor is a requirement, a core loss test is performed to determine if the motor can be rewound with the original efficiencies maintained. McBroom balances all repaired electric motors to General Motors Specifications. This equates to one-half of NEMA specs, which means your motor is better balanced than when it came from the factory.

Dynamometer Repair

We specialize in dynamometer repair, Fanuc servo motor repair and electric motor service, but also offer a number of additional preventative and maintenance services in the process.

Fanuc Servo Motor Repair

Our facilities are UL and SKF certified, and we have a ISO 9001:2000 registration. For over 75 years we have provided service that has met and exceeded the expectations of our clients. We provide repair services for the Fanuc line of servo motors, not only performing the standard maintenance services associated with Fanuc servo motor repair, but also exhaustively testing the unit to ensure peak performance, and providing test data so that you may verify the accuracy of our work.

We also provide the documentation describing our process and the items which have been repaired, providing a documented account of the history of the motor or dynamometer and verification of accuracy. Our services rendered are guaranteed to meet industry standards and exceed your expectations. We are a distributor for US Motors, Baldor/Reliance and ABB Drives and provide same level of service for new purchases.
